It is believed that the most frequent diseases of modern world are cardiovascular diseases.
Unhealthy lifestyle, unhealthy food accompanied by lack of physical activity and stress, which we are constantly exposed to, are mentioned as possible causes of modern diseases. However, statistics and experiences from our region tells that gastroenterology and hepatology diseases are more frequent than cardiovascular diseases among our people, and also those diseases represent the most frequent pathology in the world.
The third Congress of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Association of B&H will be dealing with the importance of appropriate treatment of these diseases, what are the latest tendencies in this branch of medicine and pharmacy and what are the latest therapies. All these will be discussed at the third Congress of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Association of B&H. This Congress with international participation will be held in Banja Luka from 23 to 26 September 2009. Places of venue will be Banski dvor and hotel Bosna.
- The idea of organizing the third Congress in Banja Luka came to mind three years ago, when I participated at the second Congress. During that congress I officially spoke with the congress organizer and expressed wish to organize the third Congress in Banja Luka. Then, I proposed association between Gastroenterology Societies of RS and Federation B&H in order to form mutual Association. I think that that idea has already shown good results and I believe that the third Congress will prove it-said Prof. Ranko Skrbic-Minister of Health and Social Care of Republika Srpska.
The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Association started actively to work during 2008, thanks to the efforts of Prof. Stevan Trbojevic and Prof. Kasim Muminhodzic.
The Association is based on the principles of European and world standards and it is recognized by all relevant European and world associations. Its president Prof. Rusmir Mesihovic announced participation of the Association in the World Gastroenterology Conference. Many lecturers from West Balkan region, European Union and Russia will take part in the Third Congress which shows that the Association is internationally recognized. The presence and participation during opening ceremony in Cultural Center Banja Luka on Wednesday, 23 September at 20:00 are announced by many national officers and the Congress will be opened by Mr Nebojsa Radmanovic, member of the B&H presidency.
- The first day of the Congress will be dedicated completely to the family doctors. Gastroenterologists will try to transfer their knowledge and experiences to the family doctors. The aim is to improve our mutual cooperation. It is very common situation that some patients go from one doctor to another without knowing to whom they have to go, our intention is to change that situation, said Prof. Stevan Trbojevic, the president of the third Congress of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. During the second and third days, gastroenterologists, together with the international lecturers will participate in thematic sessions regarding the latest things in this medical field and their application in work with the patients. Also, in the same time, a professional meeting of nurses from Departments of Gastroenterology and Hepatology will be held. During that meeting education regarding handling new equipment will be organized.
Around 30 international lecturers will be present at the Congress. All of them are famous names and experts in this field of medicine, but the name which is definitely the most attractive in Europe when we are speaking about stem cells treatment is Prof. Leonid Lazebnik. He is the main therapist at the Department of Health in Moscow and manager of the Central Scientific-Research Gastroenterology Institute. His lecture under the theme "Lansoprazol, effective IPP and its role in profilaxis and treatment of NSAIL induced gastropathies" will be held within "Hemofarm" satellite symposium. Hemofarm is the main sponsor of the Congress. It is, in the same time, our but internationally present pharmaceutical company and it is one of the most important members of the STADA group, one of the biggest generic companies in the world. Hemofarm is traditionally oriented towards all actors in health domain, which Hemofarm shows this time again.
- We successfully cooperated with the "Hemofarm" company, the largest domestic drug producer, before. I believe that this cooperation contributes to further strengthening of health system. All countries in the world are proud with their national producers, why shouldn't we be proud of Hemofarm. W e should move towards it and maximally support domestic production, said Minister Skrbic.
It is our great pleasure to participate in the organization of this very important event for all B&H together with Gastroenterology and Hepatology Association. We believe that new skills and knowledge which our health workers will acquire at this Congress can contribute to improvement of population health.
